When you think of Duncan you tend to think of decent budget yo-yos right? Think again! the Duncan Echo 2 was launched as part of their amazing De-Luxxe series of yo-throws. It's a straight profile metal yo-yo with rounded edges. As such it's got a wicked grooved catch zone which makes it great for advanced tricks like grinds. The Concave Hubs have been hollowed out also to help with horizontal finger spinning tricks if you're that way inclined. Comes set-up with SG sticker response system and an amazing konKave bearing for advanced, unresponsive 1A yo-yo play. You can also modify the yo-yo with performance rings. The Flying Panda from Old-School yo-yo company Duncan uses the same design as the popular Freehand model but with a few design tweeks that make it a lot of fun. The Flying Panda yo-yo has slightly flexible over-molded rims which make it a lot more suitable for off-string (or '4A') yo-yo play - it is a much safer to drop on the floor or use indoors. It also has a bigger gap width which makes landing those catches a bit easier and the extra weight at the rims should make this yo-yo spin a little longer than other plastic yo-yos. The awesome Freehand Zero (or FH Zero) has been updated by the guys at Duncan USA to feature an LED kit as found on the Pulse Looping yo-yo. The Freehand Zero is a butterfly profile, bearing axle yo-yo. This model is the pinnacle of 5A yo-yo play. The Duncan Freehand Zero yo-yo comes with 3 counter weights for freehand play, but can also be used as a responsive 1A trick yo-yo. The idea here is that users hold the plastic weight rather than tie the string to their finger. Thus, the ability to let go of the string mid-trick adds far more trick possibilities. Out of the packet, first throw, we got a minute long sleeper out of this yo-yo which says a lot about the quality of yo-yos that Duncan are currently producing. This 'Drifter' Model was originally designed to be an affordable 1A yo-yo - it has got a sleek aluminium body in a flared butterfly shape. Along with the Infinity Synergy yo-yo this is one of the few affordable metal yo-yos that play as well as models twice their price. As a cherry on the cake, Duncan threw in one of their great plastic counter-weights too. The Metal Drifter has a nice, snappy responsivity fresh from the box (which can be a little rough on the kunckles if you're playing 5A so watch out). Overall this yo-yo has a very clean, fresh look. The Orbital is the Duncan pro model that Tal Mordoch used to steamroll his way to 1st place at the European Yo-Yo Competition (EYYC) in 2017. In the right hands, the Orbital is a devastating yo-yo, capable of achieving the most complex and innovative tricks that today's pros can conceive of. The Orbital has a 7075 aluminium body with stainless steel rings that give it a perfect balance for competition tricks. Tal wanted a signature yo-yo made specifically for stability and long spins and that's what the Orbital delivers! The Origami is the Duncan pro model for Bryan Jardin. Bryan is famous for his innovative, unique style when playing 5A style yo-yo. The shape of the Origami is the perfect synthesis of an H-profile and a step-round shape. The Origami is a powerful metal bodied yo-yo which is perfect for advanced trick play and, in particular, counter-weight play. The Origami is also exceptionally quick for its size. Highly recommended and a great example of the bespoke, performance yo-yos that Duncan are manufacturing at this time. the Freehand was the yo-yo in which Duncan introduced the world to counterweight (or 5A) tricks. This means that this yo-yo doesn't have to be connected to your hand - instead the string can be attached to a small plastic counter-weight meaning that you can do an even more diverse selection of tricks. This yo-yo has a wide, flared shape making it ideal for string catching tricks. It uses the Duncan friction sticker response system (this is how the yo-yo returns to the hand once you've thrown it) and comes with extra spacers for advanced play. Duncan's pro model for Sean Perez is also their first yo-yo to be machined entirely from POM plastic. Sean is without doubt the no.1 for 4A (off-string) yo-yo in the Philippines and has the titles to prove it. The Strix is the signature model of Duncan Japan crew member Kohta Watanabe - as you'd expect from such an amazing artist, the yo-yo is incredible. This is the model he smashed the European 2014 championship with. It's got a unique shape that gives the string gap plenty of access/space but still giving optimum balance and stability. As with many contemporary yo-yos, the inner side cups are smooth and shallow making them perfect for horizontal grinds and balances. Sometimes it's fun to re-release a design classic! The Wheels yo-yo was originally developed by Duncan in the mid 70s. It uses a great butterfly shape to ease string catching tricks and has a fixed metal axle. Each model has side caps shaped like hubcaps making it fun and kid-friendly. Unlike other fixed axle yo-yos on the market, the Wheels model has an axle with a precision coating of Reslon to give a pretty decent sleep time - enough for basic tricks and baby rockin'.
